Hello

my name is Billy, I’m 25 years old. I am a trans-masculine person. I identify as non- binary and I use they/them pronouns.

I have suffered with gender dysphoria for as long as I can remember. The first time I said out loud I wanted to be a boy was when I was when I was 3. For years I felt estranged from myself- I didn’t fit in, I struggled with confidence and self worth. I used and abused my body in unimaginable ways a result of this. Coming to terms with my identify and having the support of friends and family and finally understanding why I felt so “different” for so long has changed my life, but unfortunately acceptance can only do so much.
I have been fortunate enough to access private healthcare thanks to this fundraiser, and so I have been on HRT (testosterone) under the recommendation of Gendercare since November 2020. This has been a massive step in my transition in terms of affirmation and validation of self. 
Top surgery is my main goal. I have quite a large chest which means I bind intensely every single day to ease the dysphoria, but unfortunately binding can only do so much and long term can have dangerous affects. 

these funds go towards my HRT, consultations and surgery. 

‘This is just my personal experience. Thousands of our siblings suffer daily living in a body that they aren’t comfortable in because access to hormones and surgery is a long, invasive and tumultuous process if you do not already have the funds beneath you. 

Since creating this fundraiser and advocating for community fundraising, I have been privileged enough to become a tattoo artist (after years of practice) with a project called “TITS4TATS “ where I donate a part of my proceeds back into community fundraisers, specially gender and body affirming fundraisers within the queer community. 

This surgery will mean the world to me and change my life forever.
