Jamie's Medical Fund

Hi, my name is Erin I am raising funds for my best friend Jamie Hess for medical bills. In February she went to an ER at the local hospital with what they thought was pancreatitis. She was transferred to Missouri baptist were a few days later she ended up with a life threatening bowel perforation and had to be sent to Barnes Jewish hospital to have emergency surgery and stayed there for over a week. She was recovering at home but still continued to have abdominal pain. She had an EGD, CT, and ultrasound at the beginning of April. In May she had her gallbladder removed to see if that would help with the pain. When she got home from the hospital after discharge, she started having extreme pain in her stomach two hours later and ended up back in the ER at the local hospital where they found a bowel obstruction and she was transferred back up to Barnes for a longer hospital stay. After being discharged from Barnes abdominal pain continued. After many tests and a MRI done at the end of May which indicated a neuroendocrine tumor on the head of her pancreas. She was referred to a surgical oncologist who specializes in pancreatic conditions. A PET scan was ordered and they opted to do Whipple surgery. This surgery will remove the head of the pancreas, first part of small intestines, bile duct, and lymph nodes. The tumor will then be sent to pathology to find out if it is cancerous. It requires 1 day in ICU, a 1.5 week hospital stay after, along with an 8 week recovery. Her doctor has explained that this will be a very painful recovery. She has a preexisting condition called McArdle's disease which could complicate things and result in a longer hospital stay. She will have to go to follow up appointments and further tests in STL. She has been out of work since February. She is single income and although she is able to get some short term disability it is not enough to cover all the bills coming in. Funds will be used for medical bills and other life expenses since she has been out of work. She also recently found out that her car needs $2500+ worth of work. This is her only transportation to her appointments, etc. Jamie is a wonderful person with a kind heart who goes above and beyond for others. She would never ask for anything herself and that is why I am setting this up for her. Anything you can contribute will help. Thank you and God bless!
