Postpartum Support for Jessie, Greg, Ellie, and TWINS!
Donation protected
Hello nearest and dearest friends and family of Jessie, Greg and Ellie,
As you may have heard, our family is about to get bigger! The "McFlags" are expecting TWO new little creatures! That's right, they are having TWINS! We are so excited because our late mum was also a twin, so the family tradition lives on in memory of her.
Ellie's new set of siblings are expected this September. There is much to do before then, including reorganizing their home and making sure things are as prepped as possible for a smooth delivery and post-birth home.
In lieu of baby gifts, we have set up this Go Fund Me Postpartum Doula Support fundraiser for anyone in their community who would like to help Jessie and Greg adjust during this challenging time. We understand that everyone's budgets are probably tight at the moment, so anything would be greatly appreciated! Also, if sending over a postpartum meal is more your style to help with nourishing mama and papa, our MealTrain sign up info will be coming out in the coming weeks!
What exactly is this fundraiser for, might you ask?
The Go Fund Me fully contributes toward the cost of postpartum doula care for Jessie, Greg, Ellie, and the twins. For anyone not familiar with the life-changing support a postpartum doula provides, Jessie's incredibly kind friend Julie has written up a sweet summary to educate us here:
Before the birth: Personalized care planning and scheduling post-birth support
After the birth: Emotional support, baby care, baby wearing, sleep support for the whole family, relationship nurturing (Ellie!), nursing/bottle/pumping counselling. Other means of care for parents: meal prep, laundry, grocery shopping, connection with healthcare and wellness professionals etc.
Cost: $45/hour
Goal: Securing night-time doula support (shifts are 10pm-6am) a few times per week for the first few weeks (or hopefully longer!) of twin baby life. Jessie and Greg also hope to receive daytime doula care support (4-hour afternoon shifts).
Your help with this additional set of hands is so appreciated as Jessie journeys through her second Matrescence with not one, but two newborns on board! Having her community support her with postpartum doula care in place will ensure that Jessie can prioritize her own healing, rest, and mothering of her three young children.
Thank you so much for your consideration in helping our loved ones during this transformational time.
