For Jane

 

 

Our dear friend Jane Bramwell nee Barrie has been diagnosed with metastatic melanoma cancer  which has spread to her stomach, brain, lungs and liver.

 

Jane was treated for melanoma at the start of the pandemic in March of 2020 and was told that her cancer has been successfully treated and that she was cancer free. Devastatingly the doctors were wrong and due to COVID restrictions several opportunities to catch the still present cancer were missed, leading to the uncontrolled spread throughout her body.

 

Jane is strong, she is 40 years old and is otherwise healthy. Her spirit is undimmed and she is ready to fight.

 

 

 

 

Her doctors have not given a definitive prognosis but Jane has started a three month round of immunotherapy at the Royal Marsden, our fervent hope is that this treats her cancer successfully.

 

If the immunotherapy is not successful, the doctors have said that Jane has six to nine months.

 

The shock to her family including her two beautiful children is indescribable and the stress unimaginable.

 

Jane is a self-employed creative in the TV industry working on many of your favourite shows but she was hit extremely hard financially over the last year due to the pandemic and the complete shutdown of her industry.

 

We, her friends, cannot do anything about the cancer but we are determined to make Jane’s life as stress free as possible so that she is at her fighting fittest to defeat this awful disease. One way we want to help is to relieve her as much as possible from the financial stress of losing her income after a period of forced unemployment.

 

We want to help her with her bills and her childcare, with her mortgage and with her wellness. We want her not to be worried about her kids.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jane is fighting for her life. Those of us who know her understand that a woman of such inner strength, with the infectious energy she still has, with her belief in hope and her ability to channel happiness in the darkest times, we understand that this fight is not over.

 

Jane loves life and has embraced happiness, love, friendship and family as the core tenets of a life worth living. We want to ensure she keeps doing just that.

 

 

 

Having Jane in our lives has always been a privilege, she stands up for us and for what she believes in and as a friend she has been there for us all whenever we have needed her.

 

Now we have to be for Jane what she has been for us for so long. We, her friends, have to muster even an ounce of her courage and be for her like the light she is for all of those around her.

 

It’s time for us to stand up and help her when she needs it most.
