Be kind. Help a family.

Hi, my name is Julie. I’m 55 and have lived in Wadsworth my entire life alongside my family. I’ve done things for families in the past such as help paying for a child’s Christmas and getting the single mother caught up on bills, and helped a good friend pay for final expenses after she passed of a horrible and rare form of cancer. I feel like it is my life’s calling to help those who are in need, no matter what connection (if any) they have to me.
A man I’m acquainted with was in a horrific car accident between 6-7 years ago where a semi truck crossed the median on a highway and hit this man head on and pushed into a mountain in WV. By the grace of God he survived but not without severe consequences. He’s since been fighting disability for roughly 6-7 years. His wife is a substitute school teacher and between the two of them money is very tight, especially with having one child. This man had some health issues to begin with but now is living with devastating spine, neck, and shoulder injuries with permanent nerve damage. He is a kind hearted person who likes to raise social awareness to and support marginalized groups because he feels it’s the right thing to do. However, in doing so, he’s made some enemies who wish him harm and have harassed, threatened, and even damaged property of his. He no longer has a vehicle to go to doctors appointments with, for his wife to go to work when she’s called in, or take his kid to and from school. They’re in a tight bind because groceries are expensive as it is anyways, on a very limited income, and with no car to even get them. They had food stamps from 2020-2022 but are now struggling to even keep food on the table.
His vehicle was destroyed by an act of violence recently, out of protest for a social cause he stands by, and his family now faces daily intimidation and threats which has only added to his list of problems.
He is truly a kind person and has a huge heart for humanity, even after being targeted and harassed and victimized by people who oppose his beliefs.
I would like to be able to raise enough to get a decent used car so they can do things they need to do for their well-being, as well as money for things such as groceries, helping pay some bills, and at the very least get their lives to getting back on track. If you find it in your heart to give I would greatly appreciate it. Nobody deserves the treatment he and his family, including his child, are getting simply because they believe in things like social equality and inclusivity and spreading messages of love.
In my life I’ve learned that it doesn’t take much to bring the absolute worst out of people, but the way he and his family continually tries to see the best in people and shows kindness and compassion towards everyone, including those who wish him harm, is truly courageous and he nor his wife and child doesn’t deserve to be punished for it. If we can get them a used car to get from point A to point B, groceries, some bills paid, at the very least it would mean the world to them.
I’m a Christian and I don’t always agree with other peoples beliefs, but I believe that it’s between them and God. I believe that it’s not up to any of us to lay judgment upon anyone, that it’s between them and God. I do what I do because I feel like it is my calling from God to help those who legitimately need it. You don’t have to agree with people to have a kind heart and do the right thing. This person and I have opposing beliefs as well but I know for a fact that if I were to call him asking for help he’d give the shirt off his backif that’s all he had to give. Our differences of opinion does not put me in a place to cause suffering and judgment because the God I believe in teaches against that. I don’t believe in doing criminal acts, intimidating people, and being violent “in the name of the Lord” or “from a place of love to save their soul.” I would hope this town I’ve lived in for 55 years and bragged on what a wonderful community we have (which news outlets and viral TikTok’s have made it seem like we are hate mongers) would find it in their hearts to look past their differences and help a deserving family out and show the world that we aren’t a town filled with hate. No amount is too small, anything will help and the family as well as myself would be appreciated. I will personally make sure the money is being used in the correct way.
Let’s show the word that Wadsworth is about love, acceptance, and doing the right thing. Thank you.
