Be More V - In Memory of Victoria Blisse

Donation protected
A little over five months ago, The Malicious Coffee Club raised over £1,000 to help two members of the Manchester scene, one of whom was Victoria Blisse. She was so grateful for all of your generous support, and now we can take some comfort in knowing that she felt the love of her community while she was still able to appreciate it.

If you aren't aware, V suffered a number of strokes and other medical issues which resulted in several hospitalisations, and countless tests and scans as doctors tried to diagnose and treat her. V continued to post on social media, praising the NHS staff looking after her, reviewing the hospital food, showing us her outfit for the day, and taking cute selfies.

Things took a turn for the worse just before Christmas. Only a few weeks later there was the devastating news that V would not recover, and the machines keeping her alive were switched off. V's loving heart carried on longer than expected, confounding expectations in the way V always did. She slipped away in the early morning of Monday 15th January 2024. She was 45 years old, and leaves behind a devastated partner and child.

V has been a friend, mentor, protector, and purveyor of smut to so many people on the Manchester scene. She was generous with her time and attention to anyone who needed it. Her body positivity was inspirational.

Funeral services are expensive, particularly when they are unexpected and unplanned for - - when someone like V dies in their prime. With this appeal, we're hoping to raise funds to cover a decent send off and memorial service for V. We are also looking to make a donation in Victoria Blisse's name to fund research into vasculitis. And finally, we want to raise funds to help V's partner Kev during this difficult time. He's lost the love of his life in heartbreaking circumstances, and V's illness meant that money was very tight these last several months.

There will be other fundraising activities in the coming weeks, so please look out for announcements from V's favourite places.

If you'd like to watch the webcast of the funeral service, it'll be available on the link below starting at 1:30pm on Friday, 2nd February. It will be available to view for 14 days after the service if you are unable to view it at that time. The Pin for viewing is 3 0 1 2 9 1 4.

Please help us give comfort and support to V's family and friends by donating whatever you can to help. And in 2024, be a bit more friendly, generous, funny, sexy, body positive, spiritual, and loving. In short, BE MORE V.

N.B. - Why "Be More V"? When I heard the news that V was not expected to be with us much longer, l was in the local shopping centre. I spotted something a bit different that I liked, but my critical inner voice said "you're too fat to wear something like that". Then, I imagined what V would probably say - "Don't be daft, buy the skirt, you'll be fabulous!" Nearly every time I saw V, I was in awe of her confidence and the light she gave off, and wished I could be more like her. So that's what I decided right there, to Be More V. (And I bought the skirt.)
