BE STRONG LIKE ELLIE
Donation protected
We need your help! If you have a child or a heart, please take a moment to read this. Ellie has suffered most of her life from Muscular Dystrophy. Ellie is a beautiful 17-year-old, talented, loving little girl who has blessed our family with her presence. She was able to learn the joys of walking and moving around, but at the age of 9, Ellie started using a wheelchair. She is now strictly limited to her in-home hospital bed with little to no motor skills.
On Wednesday, August 31st, at 12:30 pm, Ellie got the first incision in her umpteenth surgery. This surgery focused on her spine and went from her neckline to her tailbone. We’re told this surgery is for Ellie's “better quality of life.” But last night, September 9th, while the doctors tried to manage her pain with muscle relaxers, her blood pressure tanked to 45/29! With low blood pressure, they may have to send her back to ICU. Ellie has been through enough, and we are finally asking for real help.
Ellie has many needs that insurance doesn't cover, like a motorized hospital bed, mattress, medical recliner, hover matt (which would allow transfers from her bed to a medical chair), liners for her CPAP machine, and so much more. Ellie’s mother, Vicky, is a single parent who cares for Ellie alone. Vicky has crushed the vertebrates in her back, caring for Ellie alone and had back surgery at the early age of 38. Our family has exhausted all funds and resources available to us to provide a better quality of life for Ellie, her mom Vicky, and her sister Nicky.
We need everyone to BE STRONG LIKE ELLIE, and please help!
We are humbly requesting donations to assist in the purchase of the very much-needed medical equipment, nursing assistance, and items that will help with her condition, which are not covered by health insurance but make life more comfortable for her. Doesn’t necessarily have to be a monetary donation; we’d also appreciate assistance with items. We are trying to make their lives easier, but we keep running into brick walls. (Please note: MDA, Prime care, Medicaid, STIC, and Achieve are a few that have been contacted and cannot help with needs. They also say Ellie does not qualify for rehab because she has no walking goal, so she would have to go to a nursing home or a home. Insurance denied the medical bed at home because she would have to have stage 3 bed sores first.)
