Be the Change: Early Childhood Song Collection
Donation protected
My name is Maura Mendoza, a Singer Songwriter in the Boston area. I am originally from El Salvador and through my years in Panama, Cuba, Mexico and now in the U.S. I am celebrating 20 years of my music career with you by launching my third solo album called: Be the Change!
Ten years ago, I started working with immigrant families in the public schools in Somerville, MA up north-east of Boston. I used arts as a family engagement tool and families with young children from all over the world, we created songs and melodies that are at the heart of this album that it’s called: be the change.
In January 2024 we were awarded from the Somerville Educational Fund to record seven songs. They are done! And this is where we need your help to contribute with whatever you can for the mixing, mastering and digital release of the album!
So come on board and be the change, you want to see in the world!
Funds will be use to cover editing, mixing and mastering. Hour of studio is around $50. There are nine songs in the album and each song takes around 5 hours of postproduction (give or take). 50 x 5 hours x 9 songs is a total of 2,250.
I have added an extra $284 for digital release in Spotify and iTunes and 100 printed copies for the families who have participated in creating the songs and the Capuano Early Childhood Center where I met most of the families.
These costs do not include album design and booklets which I am hoping to collaborate with a local designer. As well as the CD release party, which we can possible partner with Somerville Public Schools during the 2025 Week of the Young Child.
