Be the sunshine in Sunny Singh's road to recovery

Donation protected
On Saturday, October 12, 2019, Gurdarshan Sandhu (Sunny), our dear friend and a fellow student at Saba University School of Medicine (SUSOM), woke up early to study for his block exams that were scheduled for the following week. Unfortunately, at 7:27 am, he was severely injured in a massive gas explosion at his apartment that has left him fighting for his life at the moment. Sunny was promptly taken to the hospital here on Saba island where it was determined that he had 2nd and 3rd degree burns covering 98% of his body and his condition was critical. The local doctors here at Saba worked extremely hard to prepare him to get airlifted to a bigger hospital in St. Maarten. Once he got there, they intubated him as he was in immense pain and did their absolute best to stabilize him. However, after gauging the severity of his condition, the doctors in St. Maarten came to a conclusion that he needed to be treated at a specialized burn unit as they were not equipped to handle burn injuries of this magnitude. Finally, at around 7 pm on October 13th, he was evacuated to a renowned burn center in Tampa, Florida where he is currently receiving treatment. Sunny is currently in a medically-induced coma and the doctors maintain that although he’s stable, his condition remains critical. Throughout this time, Sunny continues to display tremendous willpower in his battle to survive this horrific accident. His family, friends, fellow students and faculty have also come together as a community to pray for him and to help in any way they can. However, as he continues his battle for survival and the long road to recovery, it would be tremendous if we can donate whatever we can to help ease the financial burden on his family. No amount is too small and every dollar helps! We really appreciate you reading this and we would like to request you all to please keep our dear friend in your prayers!

P.S. As you may notice on top of this page, the beneficiary of this gofundme is Ms. Manisha Patel. Ms. Manisha is Sunny's aunt (maternal side) and has been with Sunny and his parents at the hospital in Tampa since the incident. For personal reasons, Sunny's parents requested us that they would prefer to have her as the beneficiary instead of them. Therefore, in spirit of complete transparency, we felt that informing all you beautiful people who have prayed for Sunny and donated to this campaign and also making the future donors aware of the beneficiary information and her relationship with Sunny was an appropriate thing to do. If you have any questions/concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us and we will be sure to get back to you as soon as possible. Rest assured,  every single penny of your donations will go towards paying for any past/present/future medical expenses for Sunny. Thank you!
