Help Launch Beans Cat Cafe
Hello Friends! First, let us introduce ourselves. We are Justin and Jessica and we are trying to open up the first Cat Cafe in Beacon, NY. It is our combined dream to provide a service not only for our feline friends, but a service to the surrounding community. We are going to be opening on 325 Main st, Beacon, where we can provide a relaxing and unique experience to the many residents and visitors of the area. With such a venture the possibilities are limitless in a community that prides itself in it's eclectic and progressive ideals.
Who are we? We are a young couple ready to pursue our dream of both entrepreneurship, and helping our beloved feline friends. We adopted our two cats, Luca and Tut-tut, about 3 years ago and instantly became a pair of crazy cat ladies. Wanting to do more to help other cats, we looked into the idea of opening our home to foster kittens, but with neither the means nor the space to do so, we were unable to pursue it fully. Then we stumbled onto the concept of cat cafes. Our 2 favorite things are cats and coffee, its perfect! So we have spent the last year researching and putting together what we could until we were ready to turn this dream into a full time job. Jessica spent the last 6.5 years in the food service industry, with a combined 5.5 years of management experience, holding her first management position at 17. In that time, she learned to how manage business and people from some truly skillful individuals. Still having friends in the industry provides a great resource for when she and Justin will inevitably run into problems in the future. Justin currently works with individuals with Autism and has spent his entire life as a lover of cats and coffee. He also spends any free time he has now helping launch Beans Cat Café and helping balance out Jessica's ambitious nature. Together we make the perfect team!
We are looking to raise around $10,000 to help with the additional startup costs and make our dream a reality. The concept of Cat Cafes is still relatively new in the United States and were are looking to get ourselves started before the market becomes over saturated. . With only 6 operational Cafes in New York State we would be at the forefront, especially because we would be the only one in the Hudson Valley. While it is relatively new venture, there are many models already existing to prove that it can be done effectively, and we believe we are the right pair to do just that.
We are looking to to serve Coffee based drinks and baked goods, as well as being a mediator of adoption for our feline friends. As there are many misconceptions as to what a Cat Cafe is, let us be clear in that there is no cross contamination of food and feline. The cafe and Cat lounge areas would be separated by complete partition walls and a vestibule to ensure no run away kitties. We want to provide the safest and cleanest experience possible for all of our guests, and have already met with the Dutchess County Health Department to make sure we do so as we proceed.
