Bear Needs Surgery: A Service Dog in Pain

Most of you know me and my Service Dog Bear . He’s as sweet and protective and loyal as they come!!! He is truly my best friend!!! Recently he got his hind left leg caught in the blankets when jumping off the bed and he began limping. At first I thought it was a pulled muscle but after a couple days I knew it was more to it. After a visit to the veterinary hospital, Bear was diagnosed with the top of his femur bone separated from the rest of the femur. Apparently his muscles are so strong that they split off the top of his femur and are still attached to the piece broken off. Upon calling around to several Surgical Hospitals, it will cost between $4,000-$6,000 to fix his leg depending on just how bad it is when they go in.

i have been on leave without pay from work due to my injuries and surgeries. Financially I am at my lowest. I was just forced to move and the 2 sets of professional movers and 3 months rent and a hefty unexpected veterinary bill for the diagnosis and X-rays and meds to help keep him comfortable I am without any savings at this point.

Normally I am the one going and helping people. Some are friends, most are strangers in need. Some have fur and some have feathers. I always help if I can.

Buy today I need to do something I have always had difficulty with…asking for help for myself, or rather Bear . He needs anyone and everyone to do whatever they can afford to help us reach our goal quickly and get him out of pain and on the road to health and recovery!!!

I will continuously be adding new items every couple of days. In the meantime please find it in your heart to help Bear get his surgery. He has been a service dog since he was 2. He had another he took care of until they passed. Now he’s been taking care of me for the last 5 years. I owe him everything!!!
