Michael Beasley and Parker McCoy, both upcoming freshman at Savannah Christian Preparatory School, were involved in a motor vehicle accident on Monday afternoon, June 17. The boys were with Greg & Marjorie Beasley, Michael's parents, en-route to vacation in Tennessee. Tragically, both the boys were ejected from the vehicle during the accident sustaining severe and life threatening injuries. Michael was taken via ambulance to the University of Tennessee and has since been transferred to East Tennessee Children's Pediatric ICU with a traumatic brain injury. He underwent surgery today, June 20, to place a titanium plate and evaluate further his injuries. At this time, he is still unconscious. All prayers are needed now that God lays his healing hands on Greg & Marjorie's sweet boy! Parker was flown via helicopter to the University of Tennessee with numerous traumatic injuries. He sustained grade four (the most severe) spleen and liver lacerations. Trauma surgeons removed his spleen and repaired his liver upon arrival to the hospital. Additionally, Parker has an open fracture of the right tibia & fibula, a left ankle fracture, pneumothorax, fractured ribs, collar bone and scapula. Parker is awake and alert at this time. He will undergo an additional surgery this week to further repair his liver. May God lay his healing hands on Parker and mend his broken body. Both Michael, Parker and their families have very long roads ahead of them. They will remain in Tennessee, at this time, for an undetermined amount of time.
Many families have asked, "How can we help? What can we do?" At this time, financial support to be used at the families discretion is the most that we can do right now. Medical expenses will be significant and the time away from home and work will take a toll on both families.
Prayers, love and support are needed as well. There is power in prayer and it is all needed right now.
