Beat Charlotte's Stage 4 Neuroblastoma cancer

Join us in sharing Charlotte’s story and get the word out to urgently help us win her battle against cancer.
Hi, I’m Charlotte’s, Grandma Cathy. I want to share her story with you. And I’m asking for your help for the family, as the expense of care, travel, and medical bills are well beyond what any one family can afford.
Charlotte is our curious, chatty little girl who loves singing, dancing, adventure, and the outdoors. She’s such a smartie and loves reading, especially to her doll babies. She’s such an entertainer and the delight of everyone she meets.
Charlotte’s Story: by Brice and Brooke (Dad and Mom)
We had just gotten through an emergency room visit on May 5th, where Charlotte had fallen from her play chair and poked herself in the eye. The results were a huge black eye and a lot of swelling. After doctors cleared that there was no real issue with her eye, we thought she was on the mend. After a week the bruising started to fade and our worries also, but after a few weeks her eye seemed to be bulging and swollen again. There was also a dark shadow around her eye. We spent 4 follow-up visits with the optometrist who became concerned and ordered an MRI. At first, she thought it was fluid behind her eye due to the injury. We were concerned about the eye and the process of removing fluid behind it. We weren’t prepared for what came next.
We were told that she has Stage 4 High-Risk Neuroblastoma, a very aggressive and rare childhood cancer with a poor survival rate.
Our world collapsed.
Many more tests were carried out on Charlotte before having a central line port inserted to start a chemotherapy regime of some highly volatile chemotherapy drugs with horrible side effects. As well as suffering the effects of the 2 previous chemotherapy treatments, our little princess has also undergone numerous blood transfusions, CT & MRI scans, nuclear MIBG scans, and numerous injections and IVs. She has amazed us all, keeping her sweet smile and making us so proud of how she is coping with it all. Her infectious personality still shines through no matter what she’s had to face so far.
Charlotte’s just at the beginning of her treatment, with surgery, further intensive chemotherapy, stem cell transplant, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy still to come. Her treatment will last at least 18 months. Even after completing this intensive course of treatment, there is still a very high risk that Charlotte could relapse, and her cancer could come back. If this happens Charlotte’s chance of survival would drop drastically, so we want to urgently do all we can now and during her maintenance to prevent this from relapsing.
The money that we raise will go towards getting Charlotte the treatment she desperately needs, improving her quality of life and supporting her and her family during this time.
We are not normally a family who would ask for help, but we need to know we have done everything we can to give Charlotte the best chance of beating this cancer. Please help us raise funds, every dollar counts. Any funds generously raised which are not required for Charlotte’s treatment and support will be donated back into Neuroblastoma research to help other children and families in need of help.
During her next round in the treatment protocol, on July 24th – 27th, our primary focus will be at the hospital with Charlotte to get her through the next phase which consists of stem cell extraction and possible blood transfusion. We appreciate the great support we have received from everyone and the fundraising that has been done for us. We will be updating throughout as we move through the treatments.
Thank you all for your kindness and support, and for sharing Charlotte’s story.
