CANCER, let's help this mom beat leukemia AGAIN
Donation protected
Jamaique is a young mother of 3 young children 8, 6, 4 years of age, of which 2 of the children have their own health issues.
She is a loving, caring, considerate and positive force in their lives who gives herself to those in need of a helping hand, someone to talk or just be there.
In July 2016, a few months after giving birth, Jamaique had her wisdom teeth that were giving her problems taken out. Months later she was still having problems with her mouth and repeatedly going to the dentist and hospital, where they would give her antibiotics that did not solve her issues.
On November 20th, finally one of the doctors at North York General listened to her and didn't just give her a prescription, dismissing her but ordered blood work and a CT scan, on his findings he decided to repeat the test and came back with the devastating news that she not only had a blood clot on the back of her brain, she also had leukemia. They immediately started blood thinners and she was transferred to Princess Margaret, as North York don't treat leukemia.
At Princess Margaret she was further diagnosed through a painful bone marrow biopsy, the type of leukemia, AML, and she started chemotherapy right away.
With no family here other than her mother and children, the financial stress has been heavy on her.
Jamaique's mum took a leave of absence from work from trying to sort out care for the children with 1 in school and the other two needing daycare in order for her to go back to work.
Thank Heavens for Nanny Angels, an organization that has volunteers helping to ease the burden, and also through help from friends with babysitting.
Knowing her children were safe and being cared for, she was able to focus on getting better and going home to her children.
While undergoing treatment and paying for medications with no income, she had to give up her apartment she shared with her children as her maternity leave was over and she would not be able to return back to work for over a year.
Jamaique has been a health care worker for over 6 years and was recently on leave due to a work related injury and was set to get her final analysis in March when Covid-19 pandemic hit the world and everything was postponed and shut down.
Now after being in remission for 31/2 years Jamaique was not feeling well and after a few weeks during which spent some time in the hospital, having blood work done and another painful bone marrow biopsy, on August 20th she was given the devastating news that the leukemia was back.
Having gone through this before, we are trying to pool our resources to lessen the heavy burden on Jamaique and her children during her hospital stay as she will not be able to work and her children who are vulnerable with their own medical issues will not be able to attend school due to Covid-19.
Jamaique will be even more at risk because of her compromised immune system and cannot afford to even catch a cold.
One of the hardest part of this is she will be alone during her fight for her life with no visitors because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The last thing Jamaique needs to be worrying about is her finances and medical expenses.
Please donate whatever can as every little bit helps during these difficult times.
If you are unable to donate, please share and circulate this page and keep Jamaique, her children and mother in your thoughts and prayers.
