Beating Hearts of Lismore needs funds

Hi,

I am writing to the local community of Lismore and surrounds to provide much needed support for the Beating Hearts of Lismore. This new grass roots initiative, and volunteer-led program, was established in Lismore in May 2023 targeted at offering older people within our community with a social gathering which incorporates singing, movement, and a morning tea. The floods in 2022 led to significant negative impacts on social connection and support, mental wellbeing and cognitive and functional status of our older community residents.

This group invites older people with age related conditions such as dementia, Parkinson’s disease or social isolation, and their loved ones or carers, to attend weekly to gather together. We have the fortunate connection to Northern Rivers Community Gateway who help us with much needed finance management support and insurance. We also have the generous donation from Lismore Heights Sports, Recreation, and Community Club.

We have grown exponentially in the 8 weeks since commencement and have grown from 16 attendees to over 60 now signed up.

To facilitate this remaining a FREE event, we would invite any donations to help support much needed additional musical supplies e.g wireless headset microphone, extra paper/ink, folders, name tags, provision for a weekday morning tea and a donation to the club in which we perform.

We would be grateful for any small or large donation.
