*3/14 Update: I am set to start radiation on 3/27, and I will recieve treatment Monday through Friday for 6 weeks straight.
* 2/28 Update: I am home from the hospital and am doing well, but unfortunately pathology of the mass removed Monday was WHO grade 4 malignant glial cells. With that being said I will have many appointments in the very near future to figure out the plan of action to kick this cancers @$$!
In October of 2020 I suffered from a random seizure that led to the diagnosis of a large tumor on my frontal lobe. After an emergency craniotomy it was determined that I had a WHO grade 1 (most benign it can get for a tumor) Ganglioglioma. Last June we met with an oncologist and determined that it was unnecessary that I endure any cancer treatment. However, this past October (almost 2 years later) my routine MRI showed evidence of regrowth. After more imaging and speaking to a new oncologist as well as my neurosurgeon we have concluded that as benign as my tumor was it has indeed started to regrow. On February 26th I will be undergoing another craniotomy followed by some Proton therapy. We recieved a letter from insurance this Monday just 2 weeks away from the scheduled procedure stating that my surgery has been approved and only ONE night in the hospital. My procedure requires me to spend at least one full day in the ICU. Depending on my healing I could be required to stay anywhere from 2 to 4 days in the hospital.
If I have learned anything from this whole journey it is that I have an incredibly large support system, and as much as it pains me to ever ask for help my family and I would greatly appreciate any and all help.
