Beatrice Renteria

My mom, Beatrice Renteria has been diagnosed with a lymphoma cancer called Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL). Her oncologist also found spots of DLBCL around her kidneys and abdomen area. This is a nightmare. Our family is devastated as we, as a family, endured my nephew who battled Rhabdomyosarcoma cancer 2 years ago. We will again as a family beat cancer and support my mom through her journey. Her oncologist put her on an aggressive chemo plan. Her chemo is a combination of 5 different drugs. She started her chemo today.

My mom is a kind loving person to not only her family but to everyone she meets. Many of Downey residents know my mom from working at Rio Hondo in the cafeteria and playground. My mom would be the one to watch the kids until their parents came and picked them up. She would tie the kids shoe laces, brush the hair of little girls and she carried extra bows for them too. The children all called her “grandma” she was the grandma to many kids who are now grown adults and she still recognizes them around Downey and will stop and say hello.

My father who is the sole financial provider is by her side and this diagnosis is going to financially break them both. My mom has been hospitalized for a week and my father has not left her side. We are asking for all the prayers we can get and if you are able to financially help, any amount would be greatly appreciated. Our family has been destroyed once before by cancer and we are ready to fight it again. My mom will get through this and we look forward to celebrating her life after cancer.
