Beatrice the Badass Frenchie
Hi friends!
My name is Beatrice the French Bulldog. I’m 4 years young and have many different personalities. But I’m most known for the sassy affectionate side of me.
I’m sure many of you have heard of my breed, we’re pretty popular these days. Unfortunately ownerslike my mother believe all their little ones will be perfect, however our breed like many others can be born with a genetic disease. Some worse than others. Over the past few years my mother would recognize things that would concern her and she’d do her research, ask support groups specific to my breed and spend loads of time at the vet trying to figure things out. To look at me, I’m pretty healthy! But as time has gone on, something inside my mouth, known as the soft palate has gotten larger. So now I have been diagnosed with Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome and a severe case of it! Most recently I scared my mom because I stopped breathing amongst other things! I regurgitate and vomit a lot and my mom is tired and embarrassed of cleaning it up even though she loves me so much she’ll do it anyway.
So to live a better life and to stop me from suffering any further I require a surgery. Unfortunately, surgeries for pets cost money! And a lot of money including travel to another province for a few nights to make sure I can breathe ok again.
My mom was hesitant to make this account because she knows that others are suffering and there are many horrible things happening around the world such as what’s happening in Australia. But I looked at her with my resting bitch face and with the encouragement of friends, she made this post for me.
Id love to get better as quickly as I can and would hope you could take the time to educate yourself onmy breed and BOAS so that when others tell you it’s normal for my breed to snore, vomit, stop breathing or have breathing issues etc. it’s not NORMAL. And this can all be prevented with educating one another. In the mean time as you educate yourself, I would love if you could help my mom out a bit with a donation or at least share this post so that others can be aware. My mom and I appreciate you taking the time to read this and we hope all the animals around the world are helped in any possible way that need it.
