Beatrice's Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
In November of 2017, our friends Meg and Tim Gerrity noticed their daughter Beatrice's eye beginning to cross, which worsened at an alarming rate as days progressed. An emergency room visit found that there was a tumor in the back of Beatrice's brain. She had surgery the next morning, and while they removed most of it, there was a small portion that was attached to the brain stem which they could not remove. The biopsy results confirmed the tumor to be cancerous. Beatrice was diagnosed with medulloblastoma. The survival rate for this cancer in children Beatrice's age is 70%-80% if it has not spread to the spinal cord. Unfortunately, an ensuing spinal tap revealed that the cancer had spread to Beatrice's spinal cord, which brings the survival rate down to 60%.
Beatrice is currently at Galisano's Children's Hospital in Syracuse, NY undergoing her second round of six chemotherapy treatments, which will span the time of six months. Beatrice and her family are showing great strength and courage. Tim's company has been very gracious in providing support as well as giving Tim the much needed time off with his family. A family that recently grew to seven, welcoming their newest member, Seth Peregrine, a few weeks after learning of Beatrice's condition.
Their commmunity has shown so much support with fundraisers, meals, prayers, and so much more. But as anyone who has had a family member battle cancer before knows, the road is hard and long. So now we reach out to our extended friends and family and community as far as this message will take us and ask you for your generous donation on this forum. Thank you for your support. God bless you.
