Beats For A Cause Walk Across America
In 1999, my life changed forever when I met my mentor and drum teacher: Steve Smith of the Seattle Drum School. Steve was able to look beyond my massive learning disabilities, and mentored and taught me how to become a professional drum instructor at the Seattle Drum School.
Steve showed me how to connect to a part of myself I never knew existed. Discovering this connection opened a whole new world of empowerment and self-esteem that changed my life forever.
Without having a true mentor and teacher like Steve, I can’t imagine being where I am today. Being an educator, mentor, leader and entrepreneur with a successful online drum school, having taught students all over the world, only happened because he saw more in me than I saw in myself.
My name is Jeremy Schulz, owner of Beats From The Core , an online drum school and I am on a mission to pay forward this gift of connection and mentorship that has changed my life and continues to change the lives of all my students. I want nothing more than to be able to help provide opportunity and assistance for those in need.
That’s why I started Beats For A Cause .
What Is Beats For A Cause? It is a way to help those in need by doing what I am already doing. By giving drum lessons and music lessons to the masses, I am able to spread awareness for any cause I choose to sponsor through these lessons. Each year I pick a cause and find a way to promote and raise money for that cause.
This year I am choosing to donate to the amazing fightfortheforgotten.org. Fight For The Forgotten empowers those who don’t have a voice. From the forgotten people around the world affected by the water crisis to the bullied in our own neighborhoods and school as well as those suffering from depression and addiction. Fight For The Forgotten is making a huge impact in our world and aligns perfectly with Beats From The Core's mission and principles. I couldn't be happier to support them during my walk.
I will be raising money by doing a Beats For A Cause : pledge to walk across America. On April 22 nd, I will begin my walk from the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City to the Sundial Bridge in my hometown of Redding, California - stopping along the way in towns across America to give drum lessons to any who want to learn.
As I Vlog my journey across America on YouTube and Instagram, I invite you all to participate in #beatsforacause and #imwalkacrossamerica and join me by posting pictures and videos of you and family and friends walking in your neighborhood.
My goal is to raise 250K for my cause. I ask for your support as I embark on this 6-month cross country journey by foot to spread awareness for the forgotten and the bullied.
My invitation to you is to become a contributor to my cause. Here's how you can help!
