Support Will & Tay’s recovery after accident

UPDATE:
We are back home and have been recovering. I am still not able to work because of my physical limitations while recovering, and Will is doing some small side jobs while dealing with symptoms of post concussive syndrome. He is trying to get in with a neurologist to see how what’s going on with his brain and how we can move forward with different therapies. We are still needing some financial support as we have regular bills to pay, and credit cards to pay off from our expenses in Vegas. To everyone who has helped, we are beyond grateful for the love and support!

Hi friends! Taylor here with some exciting news, along with hard and unfortunate circumstances, which has left us in need of financial help and support.

We haven’t shared on social media yet, but are so excited to announce that a little Beatty baby will be joining our family in April 2023! Surprise!!

On 11/1/22 while driving through Las Vegas on our way home to Colorado from California, Will, our dog, Bubba, and I were in a car accident on the interstate going highway speeds. I am beyond thankful that Remington was with his grandparents back home when this happened!

Will and I were both taken to the trauma ER in separate ambulances, and Bubba was taken by animal control to a shelter.
Will was discharged with a TBI, a bruised lung, and lacerations on his hands and legs. We have to wait for a neurologist referral once we are back home to find out how severe his head trauma is. So far, it looks like he’s going to need occupational therapy and maybe some speech therapy.
After immediately checking on the baby (baby had a perfect heartbeat and was very active!), I had a CT scan of my abdomen because I had severe pain. Due to free fluid they saw in my abdomen but couldn’t find the source of, I was rushed into emergency surgery. Will and I were told the surgery was very high risk for the baby and the chances of needing a hysterectomy were very likely. In a short ten minutes I went from feeling okay to being terrified that I could lose my baby and the future ability to have anymore of my own children. During an exploratory laparotomy, the surgeons discovered I was hemorrhaging from an artery that connected my left ovary to my uterus. Fortunately, they were able to remove my left fallopian tube and stop the hemorrhage. Baby survived and I survived, against the odds, with a gnarly incision to show for it!

I spent the next 4 days in the ICU where I received two blood transfusions and was drastically tapered off of narcotic pain medication. Then I was moved to the recovery floor for a day before I was finally released to recover with Will outside of the hospital. Because of my pregnancy, managing pain post-op has been extremely difficult, and I have been in a lot of pain which has prevented us from flying home sooner.

Unfortunately, we are still stuck in Las Vegas because both Will and I have tested positive for COVID. This whole situation has turned out to be more expensive than any vacation we have ever taken. Not having any family or friends out here, we have had to pay for hotel rooms and delivery service for food (no kitchen) since the accident. This has put a huge financial strain on the two of us, and we are facing financial hardship currently and in the immediate future. We are doing and will continue to do everything we can to hustle and save money where we can, but even a couple dollars from a handful of people will help significantly. I know that I won’t be able to return to my field of work for a little bit while I continue to recover physically. Once we make it back home, it’ll be important for me to continue to take it easy so that the remainder of my pregnancy goes smoothly and baby arrives healthy. We feel so fortunate and are so grateful to be alive, that our baby is safe, and that our doggie, Bubba, survived the crash too! We can’t wait to get home to Remington - it’ll be a big change for him too, as far as snuggles with mom go.

I have never felt more love and concern from friends and family as I have since news of what’s happened was shared. There are so many of you who have asked how you can support us, and our immediate needs are financial support. We have already accrued some debt as a result of not having a choice except to pay for a place to sleep and purchase overpriced food to eat. We still have yet to receive any medical bills for our emergency room visits, our ambulance rides, my surgery and ICU stay, and still have to purchase flights home to Colorado. I know there is a lot more financial stress to come as a result of this, and it’s unfortunate that it happened in another state so far from friends and family. I have no idea what to set the financial goal as, so it may change over the coming weeks.

Once we are back home in Colorado, we will need continued support and all the love, light, positivity and prayers. We are grateful for and humbled by the support and help and understanding that we have already received, and we are honored by it all.

Much love,
The Beatty’s
Taylor, Will, Remington, lil Beatty baby and Bubba
