Beauty Bar Staff Fundraiser
Donation protected
Hello Beauty Bar friends and family!
Thank you for your considering a donation to help our staff at this difficult time. As with most service industry businesses, Beauty Bar has some employees that work at multiple venues. But, we also have a few employees that make a large percentage, if not all, of their income though working at the bar. Some of these employees have children to feed. ALL money earned through this fundraiser will go directly to the staff, prioritizing those who make the bulk of their income through their work at the bar, and also assisting those who only put in a few hours a week at the bar.
Despite considering myself quite liberal, I’ve always leaned toward the belief that, barring extreme circumstances, a business should be able to survive on its own to be viable. Beauty Bar, at 25 years (celebration to follow this setback), has survived through many highs and many lows without ever asking for charitable community assistance. This has taken some serious creativity at times, but now we are out of tricks, and I have to rethink my feelings on charitable assistance. We will likely be taking out loans, like many other business, but these will be slated for our (obscenely high) rent, electricity, insurance and the like. Many forget that these bills are still coming in, despite our being closed. Another thing people may not consider is that we are still paying bills for products and services from a month or more past, despite being closed. This is the reality of the service industry billing cycle. Also, at this point, the laws have not been waived that prevent businesses from buying alcohol if they still have overdue bills with liquor distributors. This will prevent a lot of businesses from being able to restart, even after this resolves. We are sympathetic of our fellow service industry businesses that will not survive, or will have great difficulty surviving this pandemic.
We do not serve food, so we are left with no options to try to scrape together some minimal income through delivery. So, if you’ve ever had a good time here, please consider helping our staff with a minor, or major, contribution. We do look forward to getting back open when we get past this difficult time, and we look forward to serving our loyal friends and family once again. Until then, please stay healthy and safe, and thank you for considering the needs of our staff through this.
