The Beaver Pond Project: The Heart of Kanata Lakes!
Donation protected
The Kanata Lakes Community Association is embarking on a project to enrich the experiences around our much-loved Beaver Pond!

As most in Kanata know, the pond is located in the parkland to the north of Walden, east of the Goulburn Forced Road, and south of the newly developed Kanata North Lands. Some of the potential plans include the addition of a boardwalk to the marshlands, widening paths to allow both trail-set cross country skiing and mountain biking and fat biking to coexist with pedestrian use. Repairing existing pathways to allow safe biking in the warmer months is also a priority.

We are also working with the city to find a way to continue the tradition of skating on the pond - something that has been challenged in the recent past, but something that we believe can be both safe and positive for our community.

For any projects that proceed, we are working on the basis of shared contribution between the city and the KLCA.
Stay tuned for more updates - we are not currently seeking donations, pending finalization of plans for the pond. But we are seeking ideas! Let us know your thoughts. Generally, our guiding principal is about getting people outdoors, with the themes of activity and the environment being top of mind.
Money we eventually raise here will go directly to the Kanata Lakes Community Association, funding both this project and other community events - such as the rain garden, movie nights and maple taffy days.
