Bebot Community Kitchen CAN'T STOP WON'T STOP
WHO WE ARE
We are Bebot Community Kitchen!
Since COVID hit in March, we shifted our restaurant operations to become a community kitchen: providing meals to frontliners, seniors, migrant families, undocumenteds and other communities.
And after beginning partnerships with Long Beach Community Action Partners and Filipino Migrant Center as well as being chosen to be a part of Long Beach's Great Plates for Seniors program, our kitchen was supposed to provide over 1600 meals just for this week.
WHAT HAPPENED
But at about 3:00am on August 17, 2020, an accidental fire destroyed our restaurant. We no longer have a home. The restaurant is gone.
We are devastated. My family, my team, my community has worked literal blood, sweat, and tears to build Bebot - Filipino Soul Food.
But we're grateful, so grateful that noone was hurt.
BUT we will rebuild!
HOW YOU'RE HELPING US
All funds donated to this GoFundMe will be used towards two things:
- finding and setting up a temporary space to run Bebot Community Kitchen Operations
- subsidizing the lost wages of our staff as we rebuild and start anew
REAL TALK
Honestly, we have been operating at a loss since COVID. And all the donations, partnerships, and contracts have kept us treading water. We were confident we could "float" til 2021 the way things are going but now we've lost what will be hundreds of thousands of dollars of lost sales until we reopen (which could take longer than a year).
Your donation helps us stay flexible and gives us the opportunity to find a new way to generate revenue. As well as help in making sure our hard-working staff are provided for as we navigate this new chapter together.
SO WHAT NOW?
And just because we lost our kitchen doesn't mean we've lost our purpose. We are committed to making sure our community is fed. We are still of service to the community as much as we can be; our people WILL continue to receive food assistance to the limits of our capacity.
There's still work to be done.
WE CAN'T STOP WON'T STOP
As we rebuild we plan to:
- continue serving the community: food assistance, policy advocating, and fundraising
- restructure Bebot Community Kitchen as a nonprofit 501c3
- host pop-ups, meal kits, etc so that you'll always have a chance to have our delicious food
