My name is Becca, I am 13 years old. On April 18th I had a zoom-mitzvah as a result of the social distancing measures from Covid-19. As part of my Bat Mitzvah, I am raising money to benefit Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission to raise awareness and support of the need for health and sanitary supplies for the homeless, any donation large or small will help make an impact for this issue that is near and dear to my heart.
The goal of my fundraising efforts are to purchase health and sanitary supplies for the homeless. I am collecting online donations as well as collecting health and sanitary supplies from friends and family at my house. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
Homelessness in the United States is a major crisis. On a given night in January 2015, an estimated 565,000 people were homeless in the U.S. 1 An estimated 2.5 million children in the U.S. are homeless each year. 2And, millions of Americans live on the verge of homelessness. Unemployment, stagnant salaries, increases in housing costs and healthcare costs leave many people teetering on the edge of homelessness at any given moment. Add in problems like mental illness, domestic abuse, substance abuse, injury or illness and we can understand how a person or family can become homeless.
More information about Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission: Our goal is to meet the needs of the "whole person" spiritually, emotionally, and physically. The organization is governed by a skilled and experienced local board of directors comprised of men and women who have a tremendous passion to meet the needs of the hurting in the greater Los Angeles area.
