Becca Farewells Medical Help
Hey guys, so we've reached this step in the 'skydiver-gets-hurt how to' book. The first thing I want to say is that the support and love I've been receiving on behalf of Becca has been nothing short of absolutely heart-filling and overwhelmingly amazing. I'm so grateful to be a part of a community and a sport that can come together so quickly in hard times like these.
Becca had a hard landing on July 7th around 4 pm. She was life-flighted to The University of Utah Medical Center after life-saving measures were taken in the landing area to stabilize her. Her injuries currently are as follows: she fractured her C4 and shattered her C3, which has been removed through surgery and replaced with a cage. She has a pelvic fracture though I am not aware of the severity of that break as the surgeons were much more concerned with her spine and neck. As of now, she has no feeling below the neck but was able to appropriately and correctly answer all questions so there is no brain damage or bleeding. She is very coherent and aware of what has happened. She is able to shrug her shoulders and nod her head as much as a neck brace will allow her to. She is on a ventilator and will be on one until the doctors determine she can breathe on her own. That is all the current and up-to-date information that I have.
Thankfully Becca has health insurance, however, her premium is fairly high and she only signed up a few months ago so she has not met her deductible for the year. So I ask with a gracious heart for any donations you can provide. If not in monetary form then in food snacks for the family and of course wine. I know if Becca could she would be sobbing at the overwhelming love she has received thus far.
The hospital is not allowing visitors other than immediate family at this time and flowers are also a no-go, unfortunately :(. If you want to send any gifts or anything of that sort please message me directly for our address. Her family and I thank you so much for all your love and support.
