Becca's Myasthenia Gravis & Thymectomy Recovery Fund

I'm creating this fund raiser for my best friend Rebecca who was recently diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis.

Myasthenia Gravis is a life threatening rare chronic autoimmune disorder in which antibodies destroy the communication between nerves and muscle, resulting in weakness of the skeletal muscles. It affects the voluntary muscles of the body, especially those that control the eyes, mouth, throat and limbs.

Prior to her decline in health Becca was a hair stylist and started working remotely for a specialty pharmacy due to her medical issues, it became impossible for her to stand for long hours and lift her arms.

Her symptoms began in February 2023, after a long battle with doctors, she was finally sent to John Hopkins and diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis (ACHR Antibody Positive) in March of 2024.

Right after her diagnosis she got Covid which threw her into crisis. She was hospitalized for 5 days receiving IVIG treatment at her local hospital where they were not experienced with this rare disorder and she had several complications including Aseptic Meningitis....

The IVIG treatments have helped her symptoms but she has continued to struggle with the side effects and finding out what works well for her, she has been unable to work, she was receiving IVIG treatments every 3 weeks for 5 days straight.

She will be having a Thymectomy on June 13th to remove her thymus gland and will be out of work for two to four weeks for recovery.

We are asking for some financial support to help her through this process and focus on her recovery. She has applied for disability but will be at least a year before she is approved and begins receiving benefits.

She still has a long road ahead, she and her family could use all the help they can get.
