We need your help to cover medical expenses for Rebecca Soto (Becca). Here's why:

On Tuesday night, August 15th, Becca was tragically struck by lightning while letting her dog, Drake, out as a storm was rolling in. Pretty scary, huh?

Her husband, Lauro, heard the loud boom and got up to check on her when he saw her face down in the grass. Lauro immediately called 9-1-1 and started CPR. As the rain began to pour down, some helpful bystanders assisted Lauro with carrying Becca's lifeless body inside and continued compressions while they waited for help. She was dead. The paramedics soon arrived and began to work on resuscitating her.

Becca was in critical condition for several days. There were burns head to toe from the lightning strike. She was on life support and even underwent therapeutic hypothermia to help preserve her brain function as she was without oxygen for so long. No one wanted to say it, but the prognosis was grim.

But Becca is a fighter. The next day she began to open her eyes and respond to Lauro's voice. Shortly after, she began squeezing his hand. Becca is now stable, awake and responding!

While it is an absolute miracle that Becca is going to walk away from this, there is a long road of recovery ahead physically, mentally and emotionally. Medical expenses are stacking up and Lauro and Becca's insurance is out of network with the hospital they were taken to by the ambulance. There is also continuing care, medicine and therapy needed to get her back to some sort of normalcy.
