Beckett Dawson : Heart Warrior
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Alli and I have started this GoFundMe campaign for some members of my family who could use some extra support during a very difficult time.
My nephew Beckett was born on July 26,2022 with multiple congenital heart defects including but not limited to, Severe Aortic Stenosis and Moderate-Severe Mitral Valve Regurgitation.
In just his short 5 weeks of life, Beckett has already undergone a 72hr cooling procedure immediately following his traumatic birth, a failed Balloon Valvuloplasty (cath procedure) at 6 days old, his first open heart surgery at 23 days old and a sternum closure at 26 days old.
He was intubated and relied on a ventilator to breathe for him from the time he was born until he was 27 days old and is currently relying on high flow oxygen through a nasal cannula along with multiple medications for the hearts function.

One of Becketts main cardiac concerns is the function of his left ventricle.
It has failed to properly function since before birth and the goal is to get him to a place where the function is “good enough” to postpone any larger surgeries until he’s older. They have been able to see slight improvement on the echocardiograms which is a step in the right direction, but it still has a long way to go.
Even once they get all of his immediate medical concerns figured out, he will still need more surgeries and procedures throughout his life.
Becketts mom Brooke, is a 911 Dispatcher and has been off work since the day before her scheduled induction. Brooke has spent every single day and night at the hospital with Beckett since he’s been born.

Becketts dad Andrew, is a Team Lead at Walmart and had to return to work two weeks after Beckett was born in order to financially support the family. He finds himself making the two hour drive to Indianapolis at least once a week, to spend time with Brooke and bond with Beckett at Riley Childrens Hospital.
As we all know traveling/driving a great distance isn’t cheap, especially right now, but he doesn’t let this stop him from being an active role in Becketts life and continued medical care.

Brooke’s currently receiving short term disability after her c-section, but it ends in roughly two weeks and her and Andrew will then have to go through the struggle of going from a two income household to one.
Nobody deserves to be going through something like this with their child and having to worry about how they’re going to pay their bills on top of it.
I feel if our family, friends and the community can come together to help support this family we can begin to alleviate some of their stress.❤️
Any donations, prayers or well-wishes for this family would be greatly appreciated!
