Becky and Juanjo Gonzalez Medical Expenses

Donation protected
My name is Meghan Gracida and, through the special polo community, I have had the incredible luck to have Becky, Juanjo, Ava and Cruz grace my life with their amazing energy and friendship. As some of you may know, Becky, Juanjo, and Bauti Elliott were in a car accident on Monday, March 20th, near Careyes, Mexico. Bauti was able to walk away from the accident, but Becky and Juanjo did not have this same luck.

Juanjo has a fractured pelvis and collarbone and has had two surgeries to repair each injury. Becky suffered a skull fracture, multiple facial fractures, and a C1 vertebrae fracture. She had a craniectomy on Tuesday to relieve the pressure on her brain and she is doing well post-surgery. She also had a second surgery on Wednesday to repair some of the facial fractures she has suffered. Becky has full movement in her limbs and her vitals remain strong. She is surrounded by her loving family and her brother, Emmett Schaller, has not left her side. As her recovery continues, Becky will likely need several surgeries to repair the bones in her beautiful face.

Both Becky and Juanjo are in a private clinic in Colima, Mexico. They will be unable to travel back to the US until they are more stable, which is likely to be two to three weeks from now. Their sweet babies Ava and Cruz are with friends and family and are being kept happy and safe.

The polo community in Careyes has been incredible with their immediate and active support for the Gonzalez Family. Additionally, as word spread about the accident, the worldwide polo community has stepped up asking how they can help. As such, I thought no better way to allow the polo world to donate and show support than through this page. I have been asked by Juanjo and the families to set up this account so that Emmett Schaller (again, Becky's brother) will be the beneficiary who is handling funds for Juanjo and Becky as they recover. As soon as funds begin being transferred, Emmett will be able to help pay for Becky and Juanjo's out-of-pocket expenses that are quickly accruing in Mexico.

I will continue to provide updates regarding Becky and Juanjo's recovery here. I know all of their family is extremely grateful for the love, prayers, and support they are continuing to receive. Let's keep it coming for Becky, Juanjo, Ava and Cruz!

Thank you,
Meghan Gracida
