Becky Searcy - Cancer Treatment

It was a very dark hour when Becky found out she was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer at the end of April this year. The 45-year old mother of a young daughter was devastated. Without health insurance and in the midst of the Covid-19 crisis, the future looked very bleak.
With the help of her family and close friends, Becky began the search for and found a medical team to help her navigate a road to recovery. After countless tests, her diagnosis remains positive. As the hospital charged over $22,000 for the surgery to have her port put in and lymph node biopsy, the financial reality really hit home.
“I have always been a very positive person dedicated to helping others. Being healthy and teaching young children and adults how important it is to stay fit have always been my focus…so it has hit me very hard as a single mother. I am not sure how I can get through this without help.” stated Becky.
Becky lost the majority of her income because of her cancer and the virus pandemic. Not only isolated at home with her 13-year old daughter Lexi, she was unable to earn income from two of her employers. For 5 years she has worked with preschoolers as a Children’s Fitness & Nutrition Instructor at “Stretch-N-Grow” in Sarasota, FL. That job was put on hold as well as her other part time job as a personal trainer at “F45”, a high-intensity group interval training gym. While she hopes to resume administrative duties from home soon, the loss of most of her income has made it almost impossible to make ends meet.
Becky said, “I have never asked anyone for money so this is not an easy time for me. Without Lexi and the support from my Mom, my friends and medical team I couldn’t get through this. I have a long road ahead of me with chemotherapy, surgeries and radiation. But now that I’ve started my treatments, I have a much more positive attitude and know I will get through this!”
