Becky Taylor and IC: A journey for Quality of Life

Donation protected

My name is Molly Buscher. I am Becky’s sister. I want to try to help my little sister by alleviating some of her and her family’s financial burden caused by her chronic, complicated condition.

Please take the time to read a bit about Becky’s condition and prayerfully consider a donation. “Many hands make light work”. Let’s all rally and make a BIG difference! BLESS. Also please feel free to join her Caring Bridge and follow along with her journey:

In 2014, Becky was diagnosed with a condition called Interstitial Cystitis/Bladder Pain Syndrome (IC/BPS). Her particular diagnosis includes Hunner’s Ulcers. Alone, this condition can be annoying at its best but debilitating at its worst. She has had close to 200 procedures in an attempt to decrease the pain, while increasing her qualify of life. It’s time consuming.

Becky lost her job on 1/2/2020. Then the world shut down. She lost a friend to suicide. Cedar Rapids was hit with an inland hurricane called a derecho in August. Their house sustained a lot of damage that is still being slowly fixed as contractors become available.

With that, the rapid decline became a slippery slope. Becky's hypertonic pelvic floor went into almost continuous spasm. Daily she would  work to control the symptoms of these conditions.  Ultimately the tension became so great that it led to an anal fissure. She attempted Botox in early July but it did not work.

After being stuck looking for Acute care on top of her chronic issues, she was finally able able to secure a spot at Mayo for a second surgery.  Friday - 7/23/2021.

Unexpected expense upon unexpected expense has overwhelmed her family—from storm loss and damage, to travel and accommodation for however long she needs to heal after each procedure.

Her husband has been by her side for years, taking her to appointments. But now the appointments have become so abundant that his primary job is being a caretaker.

She has started the disability process, but that isn’t short or easy.  The bad days outweigh the good days at this point.

Let's help Becky to have one less burden!
