Becoming a Foster Family
Donation protected
Dear friends and colleagues,
Eleven years ago I married my best friend. We vowed to be there for each other for better or for worse, and to accept children lovingly from God. As it goes with vows, you don't know exactly what lies ahead, but you return to the core principals that bind in love and lifelong commitment.
Earlier this month Sasha and I suddenly became foster parents to my three (triplet) nieces who are thirteen years old. Some of you may have known their dad, my brother, Jody Calabrese, who passed away seven years ago from brain cancer. Now, including my own two biological children we are a group of seven!!
The month has been a blur of paperwork, home inspections, medical appointments, interviews, bulk meal prep and laundry, rearranging furniture in rooms, some sleepless nights and a lot of emotions. We've had ups and downs. I've never felt more grateful to have an incredible support network, anchored by my amazing husband Sasha.
Now is one of those moments when we need to reach out and ask for help. The funds we raise here will go towards two immediate needs:
a) tuition at parochial middle school and other educational expenses for all three girls
b) downpayment on a used vehicle that can accommodate all seven of us
Please feel free to send Sasha or me and email if you'd like more information. For the privacy of the children, thank you for not broadcasting this invite publicly on social media, but you may email the link to individuals. Thank you in advance for any contribution you might be able to make to help our extended family integrate as one.
Sincerely, Jamie B.
