Becoming A Mother - IVF
Donation protected
Hi everyone, My name is Nilah. I am a daughter, a big sister of 3, a cousin, a shoulder to cry on, a friend to many and of all the titles I’ve carried through my life, I’ve been missing one. A Mom.
December 22, 2022 I found I was pregnant for the first time. What an amazing Christmas gift that was! I instantly started planning and journalling. I wanted to ensure that within 9 months I was ready to bring this baby into the world. Though this was an unplanned pregnancy. The old saying “If you not ready, you better get ready” My mama bear instincts were in full gear. I began to work 2 jobs and calculating baby expenses and saving for leave at work.
Unfortunately, my pregnancy was short lived. January 9, 2023 I experienced an ectopic pregnancy, for those of you that are unsure of what that means. This means my baby was growing in my fallopian tube and it ruptured. This was the worst pain of my life both physically and emotionally. The doctors removed my ruptured tube and told my family my left tube was damaged. Due to my tube being ruptured it is not likely I will conceive.
Wow, the one thing I’ve always wanted was taken away from me and even worse news to hear that I cant conceive. At that point, I gave up hope of ever becoming a mother. I gave up the hope of having unconditional love from something that came from me.
A year passed January 2024 and I decided to fight, I choose to not give up. I confided in my Ob-gyn who pointed me in the the direction of an amazing fertility doctor (Dr Simckes) who is very patient, kind and passionate about what he does.
During this appointment, It was confirmed that my left tube is completely damaged and I will not be able to conceive the normal way. IVF will be my only option. When hearing this information, the pain was fresh all over again, but I pushed through with the support of my mother. With my support system and my strong desire, I have decided to pursue with IVF to become mother.
Did you know 33% of women in the world need IVF or some type of fertility assistance to have a child?
I am reaching out for assistance on this process in hopes that I can start my family and experience the wonders of Motherhood. I know this can be a costly process, and its not a procedure to take lightly. I know motherhood is not always the easiest, but it will be a journey and learning process that I am so ready to experience.
For any mothers out there, if you have any advise, wisdom or stories tro share with me. Please feel free to send it to me. I will greatly appreciate it!
Thank you!
