Becs' Borderline Ovarian Cancer Fund

Donation protected
Becs Wells lights up every room she enters. She’s motivated, gutsy, selfless and determined to do big things with her life. She grew up as a competitive Nordic skier, was a team captain and went on to coach young athletes. Eventually she left the sport to pursue higher education and to follow her wide array of passions and talents. She graduated from Montana State University with a BFA in December of 2019 and moved to Minneapolis in the summer of 2020 to further her education and pursue a degree in Welding.

Last fall, at the young age of 25, Becs was diagnosed with Borderline Ovarian Cancer--a slow growing cancer that often results in infertility and early onset menopause. She had the largest tumor (on her left ovary) removed along with her left ovary and left fallopian tube. She still has a cancerous tumor that needs to be removed on her right ovary. There’s a high risk that Becs’ remaining ovary and fallopian tube will be damaged during the removal of the cancer, so she is looking to harvest her eggs in order to retain the possibility of giving birth to kids of her own DNA. This process costs anywhere between $17,000-$30,000 depending on if Becs needs one or two rounds of hormone therapy and egg harvesting (which will remain unknown until the first round is completed), and is not covered by insurance.  Becs is currently starting the first round of hormone  treatment due to the urgency of getting eggs harvested before the cancer grows too much and needs to be removed, it is possible that after this first round of treatment it will already be too late.

As someone who has always wanted her own kids, there is no price point that isn’t worth a fighting chance. There’s a lot of uncertainty regarding her fertility and whether or not harvesting her eggs will lead to successfully having children, but at 25 she doesn’t want to lose the one chance she has, nor does she want to enter menopause at such a young age.

Becs is a fighter. She fights for the people in her life. She fights for what she believes in. She fights to make the world a better and brighter place. It’s time that we return the favor and fight for her. If you can, please donate to help pay for Becs to safely and successfully have her eggs harvested as soon as possible, so she can get the remaining cancer out of her body and continue to be the ray of light we all know and love.
