Bed Stuy Bikes Needs Your Help

Dear Bed Stuy Bike Community,

 

On October 28th our shop was broken into, and we suffered thousands of dollars in lost damages and stolen property. This was devastating to us, as we are a small worker-owned business that prides itself on providing affordable bike service for everyone. Before we’d had a chance to recover, we were broken into again not even a full month later. To make matters worse, the plaza security and management have decided to be unhelpful and unresponsive after allowing these robberies to happen under their supervision.

 

When we opened our shop over two years ago we decided that one of our guiding principles would be transparency, so the community could build trust in our mechanics and our customers could learn more about working on their own bikes. Unfortunately, after two years of fixing bikes in Bed Stuy we’re being forced to turn back to our community to ask for your help in this difficult time.

 

Given the direness of our situation we decided to put this fundraiser together as quickly as we could, but as the campaign continues we will keep you updated with future shop perks and rewards for your donations. We’ll also be putting some fundraising parties together to say thank you, so make sure to check back in!
