MURAL FESTIVAL IN THE HEART OF BEDSTUY

Hi, my name is Miki Mu and I am a mural artist based in Brooklyn, NY. During my 10 years of activity creating murals within communities and public schools, I have learned and experienced directly the huge impact of public art in different neighborhoods. As a long time Bedford Stuyvesant resident I feel the urge to give back to this neighborhood by helping with what I know best. After painting a few murals in the area, I have realized how bringing art to the streets has a positive impact. Creating Bedstuy Walls for me is not just an act of beautifying the neighborhood (although this itself has already proved benefits on the community). However, this is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the spirit of Bedstuy and to create a space where people and businesses can connect.

Any help to turn this into a great experience is much appreciated.

2024 UPDATE

As we approach our 3rd annual Bedstuy Walls Mural Festival, we would love to thank all of you for the tremendous support! This coming October (date TDB) we’ll be back with the 3rd installation of our mural festival beautifying Lextington Ave in Bedstuy, Brooklyn. Our community of Bedstuy will be gathering once again to celebrate the arts and neighborhood pride. We had a great turn out the past 2 years thanks to the numerous donations we received and thanks to the direct help from the community that joined forces the day of our festival and block party. Food, music, kids activities and more were provided. The result went over our expectations and we are so grateful for all the love, but unfortunately our goal is not yet been met. All that you saw was funded mostly from our own pockets . We have been lucky enough to get support by a few sponsors. This year we would love to do even better and create a very unique experience. Every single donation counts!
