Beep beep! Mobility wheels for Mr Reed!

Hey, there! My name is Alisha, and I have had the distinct pleasure of being married to Preston Reed for the last 22 years. Everyone who knows Preston knows that not only is he a kind, creative, and funny person, but he is also a talented and devoted high school teacher. Each of his students will tell you that Mr Reed is there to listen if you need some time or a solution to a problem that seems insurmountable.

Right now, Preston is facing a challenge of his own. Preston, like many of us in the past couple of years, dealt with Covid. Preston, however, was left with lasting lung damage and a diagnosis of Covid-induced COPD. Movement of almost any kind is difficult because he can't get enough air, and walking can be pretty much impossible some days, even with his cane. Preston isn't one to give up, though. He is currently in physical therapy twice a week and constantly working to slowly improve, but the school year is already looming. He wants to continue teaching and I want to give him the tools to continue doing so. That's where you come in!

This fundraiser is to raise money to buy Preston an electric mobility scooter. We are not normally "asking for help" folks, but Preston is a dedicated teacher and wants to be able to teach, so I want him to be able to get from the parking lot to his second story classroom without needing an ambulance ride or turning gray. Our insurance wants him to go through every mobility aid first, but his wheelchair only helps if he has a dedicated person to push because the problem is lack of energy and strength, not just a lack of working legs. We are hoping to raise enough to buy a lightweight, foldable electric mobility scooter that will allow him to participate in a full day of school or social activities. Any extra funds will be used to upgrade the battery or buy a spare so he's got lots of mileage. We want to keep Preston in his class and in our community.
