Bees for Vets: Quiet Mind Therapy
Donation protected
Hello, I'm a USAF Veteran of 16 years and now a retired disabled citizen who is suffering with PTSD. I have found a way that helps me with previous life issues and would love a chance to share this way with other military members to help quiet their minds. I call it Bees for Vets: Quiet Mind Therapy.
Through the world of Beekeeping, I've found that the busy Honey Bee can help calm the noise and thoughts of the past. This is what I would love to be able to share with others, the joy of Beekeeping and the peace and quiet that comes from the hive.
In the military, I was an Instructor, which I loved doing, but now I am a beekeeper with a good number of years keeping bees under my belt. My goal is to marry the two together with hopes of helping others.
How can you help? With a current living budget of a Social Security disability check, my goals are years away. So, your help with some improvements and equipment needs are required to move my project forward.
A Honey House. This will facilitate the processing of honey and wax, providing a space to repair hives and/or build new. Plus, it will have a small storage space for tools and other equipment needed to work the Honey Bee. It will need to be wheel chair accessible.
A Honey extractor. This equipment is needed to process the surplus honey at harvest time. And the plan is to use any proceeds to assist each new season harvest needs, Apiary growth, equipment needs and to help interested Vets with their own growth in Beekeeping.
Tools. Such as heated Decapping knifes, Decapping tanks, Catch buckets, Jars, Labels, Refractometer, Hive tools, Hive bodies, Smokers, Veils, Bee Suites,
I'm currently mentoring many new beekeepers online in hopes to give them a good start in keeping bees. I'm ready to try to help others in-person again.
A little more about me can be found at my farm's Facebook page - Prairie Home Farm .
Thank you for taking the time to read through my project and goals. With your help, I can greatly speed up the process to help other Veterans, that otherwise would be years away.
