*9/24: UPDATE FROM THE FAMILY
Nora completed round 2 of car T cell immunotherapy last week. Brent & Jani are hopeful she’ll be discharged Wednesday 9/25 - just in time to celebrate her 7th birthday on Thursday. She had a few rough days but overall handled like a champ. The fact that she does get sick is a good sign - means inflammation of the brain translating to the T cells putting up a good, strong fight against the tumor cells. The family will be home October 1. Jani & Nora will head back to Stanford Oct 13 to start round 3 & Brent will follow a few days later. This will continue to be the cycle of treatment for an indefinite amount of time.
The tumor did shrink after round 1. Nora has an MRI the first part of October to determine the efficacy of round 2.*
Six year old Nora was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), which is an aggressive and inoperable form of childhood brain cancer. She recently completed radiation and was accepted into a Car T cell trail at Stanford that has had very promising results. The trial requires multiple visits, weeks and possibly months at a time. Nora's parents, Brent and Jani, sister Reese and brother Jack need our support so that they can continue to provide Nora with the best possible care. Nora will have chemotherapy, be in the ICU for a number of days, and have the re-engineered cells inserted through a port in her head. Please consider making a donation to help ease the financial strain, so that they can focus on their sweet Nora. Nora is a fighter, and we have hope for this trial.
