Beirut 04.08 - Long Term Injury Donations
Donation protected
Dear Friends,
Thanks to the many generous donations we have now reached 90% of the funding goal that we initially set to support victims that have acquired a disability or long-term injuries.
Your contributions have already started to impact the lives of the blast victims. Our small group of volunteers visited Ibrahim in his home in Tripoli who was in Beirut on the day of the explosion. He sustained a blow to his spine, legs, arms, and face and must now spend four months recovering from his injuries before he can start rehabilitation. As the only earner at home supporting his wife, children and parents, the funds you have provided will ensure that he can now focus on his health. We are getting ready to visit our second recipient who is still receiving medical attention.
Over the course of the coming weeks and months, we will continue to seek, assess, visit and support blast victims in ways that utilize the funds in the most impactful way. This is made possible through the support of and collaboration with Dr Mansour Dib from the Hotel Dieu Rehabilitation Centre (Laetitia Hatem Rehabilitation Center) volunteers as well as our family and friends.
GoFundMe has informed us that we have met their requirements and the funds will soon be transferred initially to my personal account in Lebanon. From there, 100% of the funds will be distributed among the various recipients. Please find below the process:
1. Research and identification of victims that need the funds through our network of contacts and Dr Dib.
2. Assessment of the recipient needs and the criteria that we set out.
3. Panel assessment for the approval of funding composed of (Dr Dib, Rami Rajeh, Tarek Ogden-Smith, Kelly and me)
4. Direct payment to the recipient.
We cannot thank you enough for all your support.
Nael & Kelly,
