Beirut Blast Relief to Local NGO

Brooklyn to Beirut is a collaborative effort spearheaded by Lebanese expats & activists Elie and Sara Christoforides. They say home is where the heart is and our heart exploded with Beirut on August 4th, 2020. With this being the world's 3rd largest explosion, the damages are catastrophic. The homes that have housed us, our loved ones, and our memories are damaged and destroyed, making this a campaign close to our shattered hearts.
That is why we've partnered with the trustworthy and local NGO: Beb w' Shebbek (which directly translates to Door & Window). This initiative has gathered volunteers, including architects, engineers, and contractors, and is covering the full cost of rebuilding doors and windows of 80,000 homes destroyed by the massacre explosion. This local service is led by Mariana Wehbe and Nancy Gabriel, in which we are in frequent contact with.
This initiative serves more than just aesthetics purposes. The 300,000 homeless people now face an urgent public health issue in that they are increasingly susceptible to toxic chemicals and piles of garbage in unsanitary conditions. These doors and windows will be supplied to those mainly in the most targeted areas of Beirut, such as Ashrafieh, Gemmayzeh, Geitawi, Mar Mikhael, and Karantina.
In addition, we've combined efforts with Ashley Dabagh and her father's NYC based, family owned manufacturing business, Park Avenue International and Trimming. Her father is an immigrant of Lebanon and is looking to give back. They will be producing and selling masks embroidered with Lebanon's Cedar Trees, in which 100% of the proceeds from the sales will be donated to this GoFundMe, and by extension Beb w' Shebbek.
