Bruce "Big John" Mickelson Final Expenses
Donation protected
On June 12, 2019, beloved funny man, Bruce "Big John" Mickelson, died after physicians at a Las Vegas hospital pumped his body full of 50 pounds of fluid to try to help his failing kidneys. This disasterous decision exacerbated his Congestive Heart Failure, compromising his already weakened heart which then lead to catastrophic kidney failure and a last-ditch effort to save his life by continuous dialysis, or CRRT.
Though he fought valiantly to stay alive, ultimately his body could not tolerate the treatments necessary to sustain life and his heart gave out. He died peacefully with his wife by his side.
Brucie brought tremendous joy and laughter to literally hundreds of thousands of people throughout the years he was a headlining comedian in Las Vegas. Before that, he graced the legendary Comedy Store stage in Los Angeles. He was not only a brilliant performer, he was also a very kind human being who always rooted for the underdog and gave generously of his time and money to help others in need. Bruce never said no to requests to perform at charity events, and loved seeing others triumph over obstacles and succeed. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and to mentor other up-and-coming comedians.
Unfortunately, Bruce did not have a life insurance policy in place, and because his death was relatively sudden, money had not been set aside for his burial or funeral expenses.
If you are able and are inclined to contribute to a fund which will pay for his obituary, cremation (and associated costs) and a memorial service where friends may gather to celebrate his life, please donate what you feel comfortable and able to donate. Any amount is gratefully appreciated.
I know you share my grief in saying goodbye to our gentle giant, Bruce Mickelson; the world was a better place with him in it.
Thank you all for your love and support. ~Kristen Knight-Mickelson
