Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world. ~ Harriet Tubman
I have always been inspired by people who not only dream big but who also know how to take risks and persevere through tough times to make that dream a reality.
I want to introduce you to my friend, Rasheedah Abdullah. She is the dreamer in this story who has a passion to help others realize their dreams, but now she is facing some sudden and serious health issues, and she needs our help.
Let’s start at the beginning. I met Rasheedah 7 years ago when I moved to Atlanta desperately looking for a new hairdresser. I had specific hair issues, and Rasheedah’s outlook on healthy hair was refreshing. As a healthy hair care specialist, she believes in a holistic approach to beauty wellness. She has always believed that the beauty and health industries are a partnership and that a balanced lifestyle plays an important part in that holistic approach.
I started seeing Rasheedah on a regular basis. She was very knowledgeable about what we needed to do, and she would always say that this endeavor was a partnership—together we would achieve my goals. It was not long before my hair was thriving—growing and healthy. It was during these hair appointments that Rasheedah shared her lifelong dream of owning her own salon spa. A place where clients could have a one-stop solution for hair care, nail care, skin care, and bodywork. She envisioned making this a family business and sowing the seed for generational wealth. She aspired to mentor and exemplify to her offspring and other minorities and young entrepreneurs the possibilities of seeding their dreams.
Over the years, I saw Rasheedah focusing and working tirelessly toward her dream. She earned extra certifications skills and business-related goals. She attended seminars, conferences, and business symposiums to help build her network and make this dream a reality. After 36 years of working as an entrepreneur in the industry, she started her own salon spa in 2019 in Acworth, GA, and became the owner of Rasheedah’s Salon Spa and Hair Solutions. She hired a small team of wellness and beauty professionals who were dedicated to her mission. They were on a roll. Although the pandemic posed a challenge, Rasheedah and her staff persevered and managed to host their very first beauty wellness and healthy spa seminar for the public to attend in August 2022. She wanted to help educate people about the importance the salon and spa industry played in holistic wellness. She believed that spa life could positively contribute to a balanced and holistic lifestyle.
Rasheedah’s dream, however, is in jeopardy due to an unexpected and sudden health issue that began shortly after her wellness event. Her health was impacted to the point she was unable to work, and she began having issues that affected her breathing, as well as her digestive and neuromuscular systems. She has been getting tested since September 2022, and the doctors have not been able to figure out what is going on with her. She was admitted to Emory University Hospital for a couple of weeks as doctors worked tirelessly to try and figure out what is causing this illness. After many tests for everything imaginable, her condition is still undiagnosed, and she is losing a lot of muscle mass.
This illness is still attacking her body, but not her passion for her business and the wellness and beauty industry. She is the glue that holds her family together, and she is a caretaker for her father. She is unable to fully care for her father who is suffering from stage 1 dementia, and she is unable to work and pay her bills for her home or business.
Rasheedah has worked hard to support her family and her community. She has also worked hard to share her love for holistic beauty, health, and wellness. Now she needs financial support now more than ever. Please consider giving what you can to help Rasheedah. We are believing by faith that this illness will be diagnosed and have an end, and Rasheedah will be able to return to her spa and salon where she will continue to fulfill her dream. Thank you for your support.
