Belinda's facial Neroma Tumor rehabilitation

Belinda’s update. 13 weeks since the tumour removal. 

12 weeks since the eyelid reconstruction which was a success. Incredibly painful healing processes but it’s amazing as I can now blink naturally All though it’s still painful and swollen it’s healing and I’ll need to forever put eye drops in as they severed the tear duct. 

I’ve resumed cranial massage therapy weekly now and it’s actually working really well. Relives the aches and pains associated with the main surgery.  But it’s costly as the private healthcare has ran out to cover it.

I’ve also returned to work for 3 weeks and then I’ll be off again next to have surgery again. 

It’s a hyper glossal facial nerve transfer surgery.

It’s the start of the process to get some natural movement back to the right side of the face. 

It’s a slow and sometimes painful process but the end results will be worth it.

This is a major surgery which will result in my speech being impacted (until the nerves recover) and my tongue being paralysed (hoping temporarily) bit scary but I trust the doctors know what they are doing. This will mean I’ll have movement back and the smile will return also. But not for months! 

So now the second part of journey begins to get the smile that’s on the inside back to the outside.

As everyone knows I'm a positive, motivated, "always out doing something" kind of woman, who always wants to help and assist others (in my work & my personal life) and this still

I'm Strong, resilient and a tough "Cookie" but this has been my biggest challenge yet. Looking after myself. I think I’m doing an ok job. 

So with all these appointments, surgery and ongoing rehabilitation etc, it all comes at a major cost. 

Although I have private health insurance, everything is adding up very quickly and the extras have now run out.

Even just sharing this post. It helps.  

Any help with this journey is very much appreciated, so I can focus on rehabilitation, and the surgery and not have to worry about "How I can pay the doctors?"
