Belize Mission Fundraiser
Donation protected
What began in February, 2015 with a visit to the areas of extreme poverty in Belize City, a torrential rainfall, and an invitation from God to bring the people of Southern Minnesota down to help folks stay dry, is now in the fifth year of a journey involving building homes, bridges (literally), and relationships.
The people of the Catholic Tri-parish of St. Joseph, St. Matthew, and St. Teresa, along with friends, family, and the community have gone on mission each February to Belize, Central America. Working with and through Divine Mercy Church in Belize City, people in desperate need are identified and projects are planned. We do whatever is needed: build a home, repair roofs, walls, stairs, floors, build a fence, and yes, even a bridge. The goal is to make life more comfortable for as many as we can, and to make friends and relationships that last. Many of those we encounter and help come back each year to help with the new projects.
The mission team that makes the physical journey has ranged from 13 to 22 people. Some have gone every year, most can’t go just once, but return to the amazing people of Belize. Many, many more are part of the team in prayer and/or financial support. All money donated goes directly to the projects- there is no overhead and the team pays their own way.
