Hi, my name is Bella Arwood and I am a 13-year-old rising junior in the sport of tennis. I have been training since the age of 6 years old and instantly fell in love with the sport. I finished last year as a 12-year-old with a career-high of 5 in the Nation winning 6 major championship titles, defeating multiple number 1 players in the nation and went on to earn a USTA bronze ball in last year's hardcourt championship. Only 4 months since turning 13, I have already won several singles and doubles titles in the 14 & Under age divisions including Southern Champion and I am on my way to becoming number 1 in Nation.
I was born on March 3, 2010, to a Ukrainian mother and an American father. Being a multicultural family, many of our relatives, friends & loved ones have been devastated by the war in Ukraine. One of the reasons I want to become a professional tennis player is to become an international voice for peace and love in the world. Tennis being an international sport can provide me the platform to achieve this and also embrace my multicultural diversity as an athlete and ambassador of goodwill throughout the world.
Unfortunately, tennis is one of the most expensive sports in the world and my family struggles financially to continue to support my training. I am so blessed to have a family that believes in me and has sacrificed so much for my dreams, but 7 years of private lessons, drills, fitness & mental training, tournament fees and rigorous traveling expenses have become financially insurmountable for my mom and dad. I have worked so hard to become one of the top junior tennis players in the United States, but, if I am to make it as a professional tennis player, I have to become one of the top players in the whole world, not just America. International travel and tournament fees are incredibly expensive and my family has exhausted all of its savings. I am in a situation now where I can no longer afford to progress without help. I do not want my tennis journey to end.
My goal is to have the opportunity to play and compete in 4 international tournaments this year. Each tournament costs approximately $5,000. With your help, I will not only be able to keep going but I will be able to compete internationally and become a champion for all people and of all cultures. I am humbly asking for your help to keep my dreams alive by supporting any way you can. All of your gifts are considered blessings to me and everything makes a difference.
Thank you so much,
Bella
