Donate to Bella’s Mission: Orphanage Aid & Starvation Relief
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Bella & I'm so excited to share with you the plans I have to serve on mission in Africa this fall. After graduating a year early from Villanova's School of Business, I have decided I would like to spend this extra time volunteering on mission. I felt called to serve internationally for a while, but it wasn't until I heard about Forever Angels that I felt God was calling me to serve somewhere specific.
About Forever Angels
It started while Amy Hathaway, founder of Forever Angels, was living in Tanzania and came across four dying babies in a hospital closet. She was told they were “AIDS orphans”, but what was clear was that they were actually dying from starvation. She couldn’t stand by and watch babies die from starvation, when all it would take to save them, was milk.
She started Forever Angels which has cared for 444 babies to date - reuniting 201 with relatives and finding foster and adoptive families for 132. Over the years, she came to realize that many of the families being supported could care for their own children at home, if they had the financial capacity to do it. "Maisha Matters," a ministry born out of the Forever Angels Orphanage, was then created as a way to prevent child abandonment and keep orphaned babies, at home, with their biological families. What will I be doing?
I have always loved children and being able to work for an organization that is devoted to serving youth feels so special. While on mission, my main goals will be photographing the work done at Forever Angels in order to spread awareness and teaching basic business skills to families looking to escape poverty.
Day to day, I will be helping out in the preschool, assisting the "moms" at each of the orphan homes with evening activities, and even bringing the children to the informal church services held on the grounds.
How can you help?
As I prepare to go on mission, it's clear that what I need most is support from the community.
1. Most importantly, I am asking for prayers. I am looking to find a few "prayer partners" who commit to praying each and every day while I am on the mission field. If you are able to commit to doing this, I would love to hear from you!
2. Forever Angels operates solely on donations, and in order to serve these communities, I must cover expenses such as food, accommodation, and flights. Your donations will also help me bring essential items like baby bottles, medicine, and clothing to the orphans, items that are often scarce in Africa.
EDIT: Thank you all so much for the beyond generous donations- I have met my original fundraising goal & am now able to increase the goal in order to purchase and bring medicine, baby supplies, clothes etc. to donate to the orphanage / families with children at risk.
Your support means the world to me, and I'm incredibly grateful for any contribution, whether it be through prayer, donation, or simply spreading the word.
Disclaimer: While I recognize the deep need for volunteers locally, at this point in my life I have decided to serve internationally. I plan to bring back the skills and experiences gained to continue serving my own community.
