Bellyfull Plants Greenhouse and Hurricane Recovery
Donation protected
We are Bellyfull Plants Nursery.**This previous fundraiser is being used as our urgent hurricane recovery effort, since most communications went down, and it is still active***We are a family-owned and operated nursery in Western North Carolina dedicated to sustainably growing perennial plants that will provide food and medicine year after year. Our goal is to create edible landscapes and increase food security, bounty, and beauty all around.
We need your help getting materials to build a more appropriate greenhouse to support our business & family. We are doing all the building ourselves for this new greenhouse project, but the material costs are sobering, and the roof alone will be $13,000.
Our nursery business is three years old, though we've been actively practicing permaculture, propagating plants, and homesteading off-grid for over 20 years.
Throughout the past decade, we have produced a lot of plants using a small greenhouse, but we are growing out of it and unable to meet the demands of our customers at this size.
This is why we are asking for your support!
We have designed a professional 20' x 40' greenhouse (and 10'x 10' potting shed) to accommodate the growing nursery's needs for years to come.
The plan includes an earth-sheltered, passive solar structure that will extend our propagation season, facilitating the expansion of our production. Our goal is to achieve a regenerative, carbon-negative operation as we continue to grow. The design will allow us to avoid using any additional energy to keep the greenhouse warm.
We are passionate about doing all of our propagating on-site and producing plants that thrive in our bioregion, thus further reducing our carbon footprint by avoiding shipping in plants.
We root cuttings from our favorite trees, shrubs and herbs, or grow from seed and tend them until they are ready to be part of landscapes around peoples' homes, schools, places of work and worship.
We want to facilitate the transformation of landscapes to become abundant sources of food and medicine that is more accessible to all people!
Please stay tuned for updates on our project.
Thank you for considering donating to Belly Full Plants to grow into a new greenhouse!
