NYPD Officer Killed by Drunk Driver

On April 27th, 2021, we tragically lost a husband, father, brother, uncle, and beloved NYPD Officer. Officer Anastasios Tsakos of the NYPD Highway Patrol was taken from us far too soon. A 32-year-old woman who had expressed disdain towards the Police and their families on a Podcast just hours earlier while under the influence of alcohol and marijuana, struck Officer Tsakos with her vehicle as he was redirecting traffic from a previous fatal accident in Fresh Meadows, Queens, leaving him on the side of the road to die. She then fled the scene, leading to a police chase and her eventual apprehension. Tsakos leaves behind his beloved wife Irene and his two beautiful children, aged 3 and 6, who are devastated by his untimely loss. The emptiness felt by his family and closest friends is indescribable.
